Buyer Selection Criteria – old

Qualified Buyers of Canadian travel products and services are eligible to register for RVC by invitation only. Buyers are invited on the basis of recommendations made by the Destination Canada, industry representatives, Sellers participating in Rendez-vous Canada and by Canadian municipal and provincial/territorial tourism officers.

Invitations to register will be sent to qualified and approved buyers starting in December 2017. If you have attended RVC in the past and have not received an invitation to RVC 2018, please visit the Contact us section to find the Destination Canada representative in your region.

If you are a new buyer, please review the selection criteria below for additional information.


International Buyers are qualified Foreign Tour Operators, Wholesalers, Packagers and Travel Agents nominated by Rendez-vous Canada, Destination Canada, Provinces/Territories and returning Sellers and DMOs.

Buyers must buy either a total Canadian package or its components to assemble into a total package involving other destinations for resale overseas, in the US or in Canada.

Buyers are invited on the basis of recommendations made by Destination Canada, industry representatives, Sellers participating in Rendez-vous Canada and by Canadian municipal and provincial/territorial tourism officers. For more information please visit the Contact us section. Priority will be given to Buyers coming from target markets identified by Destination Canada and the Provinces/Territories.

Canadian Buyers are Receptive/Inbound Tour Operators, Wholesalers, Packagers and Travel Agents nominated by Rendez-vous Canada, Destination Canada, Provinces/Territories and returning buyers and DMOs that:

  • Should have a history of active engagement in the business of developing, packaging, promoting, selling and operating packaged travel for at least three years immediately prior to the date of application for participation in Rendez-vous Canada;
  • Should have operated a minimum of 24 tour departures or at least 50 touring days during each of the three 12-month periods immediately preceding the date of application;
  • Have adequate comprehensive general public liability coverage and professional liability, errors and omissions insurance coverage with reputable insurance underwriting companies;
  • Are in compliance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations and duly qualified and licensed to do business in each jurisdiction which requires such qualification or licensing;
  • Priority will be given to Canadian Buyers that operate on a national level (buy product in two or more regions of Canada)
    • Atlantic (NB, NL, NS, PE)
    • Central (ON, QC)
    • Western (AB, BC, MB, SK)
    • Northern (NU, NT, YT)
  • Organization must be based in Canada
  • Sell Canadian products in Canada and international market
  • Meet the Selection Criteria for International Buyer.
